Estate & Legacy
As wealth managers, we are here to help you manage money not only for yourself and your future needs, but also for your heirs. When considering your estate and legacy needs, consider these questions:
- Do I want to treat children and beneficiaries equally?
- How can I minimize estate costs, hassles, and delays for heirs?
- What type of will or trust is best given my situation?
- How do I plan my estate and leave a legacy?
- How do I leave a legacy that reflects my values and wishes?
- How can I best support charities and other organizations that are important to me?
- Should I gift now or upon death?
Our team coordinates your estate and legacy planning alongside your attorney and tax professionals so your financial plan, beneficiary designations, and trust structure all work together. We also review and summarize your estate documents in a diagram so you can easily understand how your assets transfer to your heirs.

Early in the process, we meet to discuss goals and gather financial data. We join meetings with your attorney to prepare wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents.
Once documents are in place, a “diagram” of the estate is created and reviewed regularly. Items discussed may include:
- Review of beneficiary designations, other agents and account titling to help ensure they match attorney recommendations and individual wishes.
- Ongoing interaction with attorney to ensure documents are current and correct.
- Updating, planning, and reviewing of charitable gifting, which ranges from simple to sophisticated.
- Working with heirs to plan legacy.
- Reviewing separation and/or divorce documents.
Estate and legacy planning is coordinated within each client’s overall wealth management and financial planning strategy.
